In what employees are calling a shocking, if not entirely unexpected move, local dispensary Higher Groundz fired their general manager, Kyle Reynolds, yesterday after it was revealed he did not know all the lyrics to Dr. Dre’s iconic album The Chronic.
“It’s honestly disappointing,” said assistant manager Tasha Greene. “We run a cannabis dispensary, not a smoothie shop. There’s a certain standard, a culture to uphold. How can we trust a manager who can’t even spit the lyrics to Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang?”
According to sources, the incident unfolded during a team bonding event, where employees were vibing to classic West Coast hip-hop. When Let Me Ride came on, Reynolds, 33, reportedly mumbled through the verses, and by the time they got to Lil’ Ghetto Boy, his coworkers had started exchanging concerned glances.
“He skipped entire lines and tried to act like he knew what he was doing,” said budtender Marcus James. “At that point, we knew. Management got involved the next day.”
The dispensary issued a statement, saying, “While we respect all genres of music, it’s essential our leadership team truly appreciates and understands cannabis culture. We wish Kyle the best in his future endeavors and hope he spends some time with Dr. Dre’s discography.”
