Bargain e-commerce giant Temu has launched “Temu Tokes,” its own line of ultra-affordable cannabis products, promising “high vibes for low prices.” But in true Temu fashion, it seems the products are delivering more laughs than highs as customers report receiving everything from styrofoam disguised as weed to expertly printed photos of cannabis.
“I paid $10 for an ounce of ‘premium bud,’” tweeted one exasperated customer. “They sent me a high-res picture of a nug. I stared at it for 15 minutes before realizing this was all I was getting.” Another buyer received what they described as “an oregano salad in a Ziploc bag.”
Temu’s press release claims their goal is “to make cannabis accessible for all,” but if early reviews are anything to go by, they may be making it accessible in ways nobody asked for. Instead of the calming effects users were hoping for, Temu’s products are providing a different kind of buzz: confusion and a touch of rage.
The situation only gets hazier as reports emerge of styrofoam shaped like cannabis buds being passed off as “lightweight, travel-friendly flower.” A particularly unlucky customer described unpacking a product so suspiciously green and crumbly that they’re considering using it as a potpourri substitute.
Temu has issued a statement reassuring buyers that they are “looking into these rare and isolated cases,” though customers remain wary. For now, it seems like “Temu Tokes” is less about getting high and more about testing the patience of cannabis lovers everywhere.
In the meantime, cannabis connoisseurs might want to stick to their local dispensary for now—or at least read the Temu fine print before purchasing what may end up being the most “unique” nug they’ve ever seen.
